Welcome to Sekari

For generations, vampires and druids shared an island divided by distrust. Then came a war — and the druids lost.

The Last Druid follows Zane, a young druid left behind in the world that emerged from its ashes. As Sekari struggles beneath the weight of its past, Zane must navigate a future shaped by old wounds, unlikely bonds, and a legacy far greater than himself.

Across three planned books, The Last Druid is a story of survival, belonging, loyalty, and the people we choose to hold onto when the world we knew is gone.

Adult Fantasy Adventure Complete — Querying

The war is over. The druids lost.

Two months after vampires seized control of Sekari, Zane Voss is trying to survive what remains of the world he once knew. Haunted by the people he couldn't save and carrying an identity that makes him dangerous to the island's new rulers, he wants little more than to leave the war behind.

But survival becomes harder when the past refuses to stay buried.

Drawn together with an unlikely group of allies — a half-vampire princess, a cold-blooded assassin, a gifted inventor, and a sharp-tongued dark elf — Zane finds himself pulled into a conflict that threatens the fragile future of Sekari. At its center stands an enemy whose connection to Zane runs deeper than he could have imagined.

With old wounds reopening and new bonds giving him something to lose all over again, Zane must decide how far he's willing to go to protect the people beside him — and whether being one of the last of his kind means carrying the weight of those who came before him, or finding a reason to keep moving forward.

Some things refuse to stay buried.

Zane's journey across Sekari is far from over. With the scars of the past still lingering, what lies ahead will take him beyond everything he has known — and toward secrets that have waited beneath the surface for far too long.

New faces emerge. Old bonds deepen. And as the waters surrounding Sekari begin to reveal what they have kept hidden, Zane finds himself caught in a struggle that reaches further into his family's past than he ever expected.

Surviving one battle never meant the next wouldn't come. And this time, the tide is already rising.

Meet the characters

Druid

Zane Voss

Zane would be perfectly content if the world simply left him alone for once. After surviving a war that took nearly everything from him, he's guarded, stubborn, and far more comfortable keeping people at a distance. Unfortunately, he's also fiercely loyal once someone manages to cross that distance — and walking away becomes much harder when there are people beside him worth protecting.

“If I wanted to be blind, fragile, and at the bottom of the food chain, I'd just open up emotionally.”
Half-Vampire Sorcerer

Melanie Corvin

Melanie knows how to look confident. Sharp-tongued, composed, and seemingly unbothered by what others think of her, she wears the role well — but it has never fit quite as comfortably as she pretends. A life spent sheltered behind castle walls has left its marks, and beneath the confidence lies someone far less certain of herself than she lets others see.

“As someone whose masks have masks…”
Kunoichi / Assassin

Kazumi Aoki

Kazumi doesn't waste words. Disciplined, observant, and difficult to read, experience has taught her to be careful about who she allows close. Earning her trust takes time; losing it takes considerably less. Kazumi may struggle to put what she feels into words, but when someone truly matters to her, her actions tend to say everything she can't.

“Good thing I don't have a moral compass.”
Half-elf Inventor

Cynthia Vale

Cynthia's curiosity has a habit of getting the better of her — and more often than not, she's perfectly happy about it. An inventor at heart, she sees possibilities where others see problems and rarely turns down the chance to learn something new. Her gentle nature and quiet demeanor can make her seem unsure of herself, but there's far more determination behind those round glasses than first meets the eye.

“You think I used a pencil sharpener on my ears or what?”
Dark-elf

Kallen D. Ray

Kallen is loud, reckless, unpredictable, and generally far too entertained by situations everyone else would prefer he took seriously. Whether he's starting an argument, making an inappropriate joke, or simply seeing how far he can push someone's patience, subtlety has never been his greatest strength. Getting a straight answer out of him may be difficult.

“I think emotional suffering burns calories, because I'm starving.”

Explore Sekari

Sekari

One of five islands that make up the Urami island group, Sekari is home to people and histories shaped by generations of conflict.

Sekari now bears the scars of a war that changed it forever. Old boundaries have fallen, entire communities have disappeared, and the world left behind is still learning what peace is supposed to look like.

From dense forests and quiet villages to the walls of the vampire castles, Sekari stands at the heart of The Last Druid — an island within a world that stretches far beyond its shores.

Druids

Druids share a deep connection with nature, expressed through both an animal spirit and an elemental affinity unique to each of them. These bonds are more than symbols: they shape a druid's abilities and form an inseparable part of who they are.

Their elemental powers can take many forms, while their animal spirit connects them to a particular species and the traits associated with it.

Once one of the peoples who called Sekari home, the druids were brought to the brink of extinction during the war with the vampires. What remains of their history — and the legacy they left behind — continues to shape Sekari long after the fighting has ended.

Vampires

Vampires have long been one of the dominant people of Sekari. Powerful, long-lived, and governed from behind the walls of their castles, their history is deeply intertwined with that of the druids.

The war changed that balance permanently. With the druids defeated, vampire rule now stretches farther across Sekari than ever before, leaving them to inherit not only victory, but an island still carrying the wounds of the conflict.

Yet vampires are no more defined by the war than any other people of Sekari. Behind bloodlines, titles, and old allegiances are individuals with their own loyalties — and their own ideas of what the island should become.

The War

For years, tensions between Sekari's druids and vampires threatened the fragile balance between them. Eventually, those tensions ended in war.

By the time the fighting ended, the druids had been devastated and the vampires stood victorious. Communities were destroyed, countless lives were lost, and an island once divided between two peoples emerged under vampire control.

The Last Druid begins only two months later.
